Starting Fresh!

Here we are again finding ourselves at the beginning of a season and this one is quite different than previous years because our Fall season experienced the lows of farming. You may be thinking why even put that out there? Well because it happened and this is where we tell what the it was.

It started with unseasonably cold temperatures that froze just about everything on the farm. We informed our members and decided that the best thing to do was to push the season back to allow time for the schedule to get back on the track. We have control over many things, but the weather isn’t one of them.

If that wasn’t enough, we lost our precious son to a car accident in November and the season stopped. Again we informed our members.

To be honest, we weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to continue on with anything when we lost our son. It was and is very tragic and it is something we think about everyday. It was only through many prayers along with the help and support of family and friends that we are here now. We realized that we love growing food. Our son loved that we have a farm and he would have wanted us to continue growing. So that’s exactly what we are and plan to continue doing.

Spring has started and we are currently ensuring that our Fall season members receive the rest of their deliveries. This is where that “trust” part comes in with the farmer. It was our first priority to honor our commitment to them by making sure they received what they paid for. Never in our worst nightmare did we imagine that something like this would happen, but we have to push forward and are extremely thankful to our members for their patience and understanding.

Recently since being featured in a number of articles including this one, many of you are inquiring about our joining our CSA and although Spring is full, we do plan on offering a Summer Share. If you’d like to join us, send us your information through our contact page. Thanks for checking us out and we will chat with you soon. Until then…….
